They were expecting around 2,000 attendees but the crowd easily swelled to over 3,000 in support of Daang Matuwid’s Mar Roxas in Kidapawan City.
All the towns in the 2nd district of North Cotabato were well represented, with M’lang Mayor Joselito Piñol, Magpet Vice Mayor Efren Piñol, Matalam Mayor Oscar Valdivieso, Antipas Vice Mayor Rodrigo Pedregosa, Makilala Mayor Rudy Caoagdan, and President Roxas Mayor Jaime Mahimpit leading their respective constituents.
Several indigenous peoples’ leaders and members were also in attendance to express their approval for Daang Matuwid, which had brought vast improvements to their lives.
In his speech, Roxas pledged to continue the improvements in North Cotabato brought about by the Aquino administration, notably promising to finish the construction of the airport in the municipality of M’lang.
“Mayor, ‘yung airport ninyo, nasimulan ko noong DOTC ako. Balita ko hindi pa tapos. Tatapusin natin ‘yang airport sa M’lang!” he told the yellow-clad Mayor Piñol, who happily acknowledged the promise.
This was a perfect segue to Roxas’ discussion on the importance of connectivity, as an airport will make North Cotabato more accessible to investors, tourists and visitors.
“Sama-sama tayo, sabay-sabay tayo na sumakay sa RoRo para marating natin ang kaunlaran,” said Congressman Sacdalan to the cheering crowd of Kidapawan.
