Daang Matuwid standard bearer Mar Roxas met with several civic service organizations (CSOs) from the second district of Leyte through the CSO Forum on Livelihood held at the recently constructed Civic Center in Dulag, Leyte on Friday (January 22).

The civic center was filled to the brim, with a crowd of over 2,000 voicing out their concerns and actively listening to Roxas’ plans on their means of livelihood . He was received by Boyboy Cadayong, the president of Dulag CSO Federation, as well as Ma. Christy Depaz, chairwoman of San Jose Yolanda Workers Association.

Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico “Mic” Petilla accompanied Roxas to the CSO Forum, along with Congressman Serging Apostol and other local government officials from the province.
“Kitang-kita ko, damang-dama ko, na maganda ang pag-asa na umaahon na, na nakakaraos na ang Leyte mula sa Yolanda,” Roxas told the crowd.

It can be remembered that Dulag was the first town to be hit when Typhoon Yolanda (I.N Haiyan), the strongest storm ever recorded in history, made landfall in Leyte in 2013. Two years after its devastation, the town of Dulag has recovered through the collaborative efforts of the local and national government.

Roland Lora, president of the Campina Farmers Association (CAFA), testified how Daang Matuwid shaped Leyte to become a prosperous province despite the devastation it experienced. Lora narrated in Waray how several of the administration’s projects touched all aspects of livelihood in Leyte, from the over 200 households that gained a steady supply of water through the Salintubig program, the lengthy kilometers of farm-to-market roads constructed, the granting of a new life to several beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps), and even to the supply of “put-puts,” Leyte’s version of the pedicab.

“Mabuhay si Secretary Mar Roxas! Ipapatuloy natin ang Daang Matuwid! Suportahan natin ang BUB,” Lora cheered with the people.
When Roxas asked the crowd to raise their hands if they were aware of the lives touched by 4Ps and its benefits, almost everyone in the center raised their hands in pride.

“Ang 4Ps dedepensahan natin. Itataguyod natin. Hindi tayo papayag na mawawala ang 4Ps. Papalawakin natin ang 4Ps. Itutuloy natin ang 4Ps. Sisiguraduhin natin na ga-graduate ang inyong mga anak,” Roxas promised.

“Ang pagpapatuloy ng ating tinatahak ngayon ay nasa sa kamay n’yo. Kayo ang aking lahat. Kayo ang ipinaglalaban namin sa pagpapatuloy ng Daang Matuwid.”
