Daang Matuwid presidential bet Mar Roxas met with the 2,000-strong barangay captains and officials from the 92 barangays of Baybay City, Leyte, during the “Barangay Party” held on Sunday (December 20). He was accompanied by Daang Matuwid coalition senatorial bet Jericho “Icot” Petilla, Leyte Representative Boying Cari, Leyte Governor Mic Petilla, and Baybay Mayor Carmen Cari.
In his brief message, Roxas highlighted the barangay officials’ role in the local government, commending them for their dedication to their duties.
Roxas also greeted the attendees an early Merry Christmas, promising that under his governance, improvement will be felt at the grassroots level all year round through the Walang Iwanan Fund.
The fund, Roxas explained, allots P1,000 worth of development credits for each resident of every city and municipality in the Philippines, to be used for projects that will benefit the town. The residents per area will work with the local government on choosing where to allot the funds. The Walang Iwanan Fund will be distributed on top of the Internal Revenue Allotment, which is a local government unit’s share of revenues from the national government.
