PNoy-endorsed Presidentiable Mar Roxas enthusiastically discussed with the youth the problems of society and the real meaning of Daang Matuwid during an open forum at Lewis College in Sorsogon City last Friday (September 18).

More than 500 students from different schools in the city participated in the event, where Roxas was the special guest.

During the forum, Roxas assumed the role of a college professor holding a class recitation when he asked the students a defining question: “Para sa inyo, ano ang ibig sabihin ng Daang Matuwid?”

For first-year education student Sheena Mae Vinuya, Daang Matuwid is all about honesty and transparency.

Accountancy student Marian Belen, on the other hand, believes that Mar Roxas embodies the meaning of Daang Matuwid.

Roxas, who gave all the students who recited passing grades, then shared his own definition of Daang Matuwid: A system of governance that is transparent, honest, and fully committed to the delivery of services to the people.

The Liberal Party standard-bearer revealed that this year alone, about 330,000 families who are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were able to let their children finish school with the help of scholarships. About 13,000 of those scholars graduated as valedictorians or with honors.

Roxas, who was endorsed by President Aquino in July as the administration’s presidential bet, vowed to continue Daang Matuwid and pursue the administration’s transparency, good governance and anti-corruption platform beyond 2016.
